The Workshop
The Lathe
Obviously, for a wood turner the lathe is the most important tool. Of coiurse, I have more than one; two actually: a mini lathe which I used initially, and it still comes in handy, but then I ‘needed’ a big one!
The Chain Saw
Actually, the chain saw is the most used tools, may be even more than the Lathe. After all, everything starts with the tree; and since I harvest my trees locally, meaning on my own property, I need to cut them down, slice them into wood blanks, etc. For big trees, and I mean really big ones, that requires a lot of chain saw action. Of course, I have more than one; three right now; those I have left, I have worn out at least another three before.
The Band Saw
Needed to get good round blanks
The Sharpening System
Very important to sharpen all those turning tools.
Chisels
Can't have enough: Bowl gouges, Swewers, Scrapers, Hollowing Tools; we need them all, and multiple of each, kleep them sharp, use each breifly and sharpen again.
Sharpening and Sanding are the most repetivite tasks, don#t cut corners here. .
